BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A motorcyclist died after a hit-and-run crash on Saturday night in southwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Officers first responded to the crash in the 4500 block of Ming Ave. around 10:44 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2026.

When they arrived, they found a motorcyclist, a man, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The involved vehicle, described as a white sedan, fled the area before officers arrived.

A preliminary investigation determined the motorcyclist was driving eastbound on Ming Ave. when the sedan made an unsafe turn, causing the crash.

Officers say they contacted a woman believed to be the driver of the white sedan around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2026. The investigation remains ongoing to confirm her involvement.

The motorcyclist was hospitalized and later died on Sunday morning. The Kern County Coroner will release his identity at a later date.
