The Kings acquired forward De’Andre Hunter in a three-team trade, sending Dennis Schröder and Keon Ellis to Cleveland and assets to Chicago.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings made a notable move ahead of the stretch run, reshaping their roster through a three-team trade that brings forward De’Andre Hunter to the capital city.

Sacramento landed Hunter from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a deal that also involved the Chicago Bulls. In exchange, the Kings parted ways with guard Dennis Schröder and wing Keon Ellis, both of whom head to Cleveland. Chicago receives forward Dario Šarić along with a 2029 second-round draft pick from Sacramento.

Hunter arrives in Sacramento after spending the first half of the 2025–26 season with the Cavaliers. Through 43 games this year, including 23 starts, the 6-foot-8 forward has averaged 14.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists while logging just over 26 minutes per night.

The 28-year-old brings a proven scoring profile and postseason experience to a Kings team pushing for consistency in the Western Conference. Over his NBA career, Hunter has averaged nearly 15 points per game while shooting efficiently from the field and the free-throw line. He has appeared in 24 playoff games across stints with Atlanta and Cleveland, where his shooting numbers have improved, particularly from three-point range.

Hunter entered the league as the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft following a standout college career at the University of Virginia.

Before turning pro, Hunter played two seasons at Virginia and was a central figure on the Cavaliers’ 2019 national championship team. His sophomore campaign earned him ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors, along with All-ACC First Team and All-American recognition. As a freshman, he was named the conference’s Sixth Man of the Year.
