ANAHEIM, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2025) — A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday morning on the northbound 57 Freeway just north of Katella Avenue, prompting a full closure of the area and a SigAlert, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported around 6:28 a.m. after multiple callers reported a person down in the lanes of traffic. Authorities said the pedestrian was hit by several vehicles before emergency crews arrived.
At least one driver in a white Subaru reportedly struck the individual and pulled to the right shoulder, according to dispatch logs. Several other vehicles also hit the person following the initial crash.
All northbound lanes were temporarily stopped while firefighters and CHP officers responded. The Anaheim Police Department also assisted with traffic control, and the on-ramp from westbound Katella to northbound SR-57 was shut down.
The Orange County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene around 6:53 a.m. Meanwhile, Caltrans crews were called in to assist with cleanup after the coroner’s work was completed.
The cause of the fatal incident remains under investigation by the Anaheim Police Department. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
