While the business of the bathroom may often be cause for laughter or embarrassment, it’s a crucial daily experience. From midday wardrobe changes to upset stomachs, every Titan is entitled to a private and clean area to tend to their needs.
It’s not hard to come by a bathroom on campus, but when sharing these communal spaces with more than 40,000 other students and faculty, the details really begin to matter. Here is a brief list highlighting bathrooms that prioritize accessibility, privacy and amenities among other qualities to ensure Titans a tranquil experience.
Visual Arts Complex Buildings
The bathrooms in the recently constructed Visual Arts Complex make a strong argument for being the best on campus. Both the first and second floor bathrooms in Building H are gender-neutral with four floor-to-ceiling stalls each.
The stalls’ colorful interior matches the theme of the buildings’ represented program while the white bathroom remains cohesive with the building. Across both bathrooms are automatic sinks and soap dispensers and a full-length mirror with soft lighting.
The bathrooms also offer free menstrual products via dispensers near the entrance. The men’s and women’s restrooms in Building E offer many of the same amenities while also holding a diaper-changing station. Given the Visual Arts Complex’s proximity to Nutwood Parking Structure, these bathrooms are convenient stops for Titans coming or going from campus.
Langsdorf Hall 1
A little beyond the Office of Admissions and Registration and Records lies a pair of accessible bathrooms. With automatic doors and wider stalls, the bathroom accommodates mobility aids without sacrificing privacy.
The bathroom hosts two stalls, as well as three divided urinals in the men’s restroom. There is also a diaper changing station for the use of student parents and faculty with children. Being that this restroom is located in Langsdorf Hall, it is a great stop for students arriving from the 26 and 123 bus routes that let out at the Nutwood-Commonwealth stops.
Titan Shops 1
Similar to the restrooms of Langsdorf Hall, the first floor bathrooms of the Titan Shops are compact, hosting two urinals and a stall in the men’s restroom. While not as capable in hosting a large capacity of users, the Titan Shops bathrooms offer convenience and privacy, located in back of the floor with a quick side entrance next to Club 57.
Sitting in the heart of campus with fast access to Titan Walk and other pathways leading to the Student Recreation Center, Kinesiology building and library, it’s a perfect pitstop to not only relieve yourself but to also grab any essentials for the day and carry on to class.
Pollak Library South 1
Upon arrival at the Pollak Library from the south entrance, students can find a gender-inclusive restroom tucked behind the University Honors Center with plenty of stalls, each with floor-to-ceiling doors.
The privacy of the restroom paired with the convenient location it has in the Central Quad make it an ideal bathroom during events or passing through campus. The cleanliness of the bathroom masks its high traffic, with automatic soap dispensers and faucets helping to keep the counter dry.
Steven G. Mihaylo Hall 1
While the first floor bathrooms of Mihaylo Hall don’t boast the same privacy as the stalls in PLS1, they exceed its convenience and capacity. With a men’s and women’s restroom located on each wing of the first floor, the spacious restrooms can handle a high volume of users on both ends with many urinals and stalls.
Automatic sinks add to the convenience of the restroom. Being on the corner of campus, the restrooms make a solid stop for students walking west on Nutwood Avenue or those returning from lunch at University Plaza.
With entrances and exits from the building just down the hall from any restroom, it’s fairly easy to beat the foot traffic on the way to handle business.
