The gravel on Pontiac Lake Road between M-59 and Teggerdine Road in White Lake Township fdwill be replaced with pavement over the next two years. The county road commission will host a Feb. 12 meeting to share details.

This section of Pontiac Lake Road carries approximately 2,400 vehicles daily. This $5.8 million project will be paid for with a combination of federal, road commission, township and county funds.

The open house is an informal session that people can drop into to see the plans and question county road commission officials.

The project will proceed as weather permits. Plans for 2026 include utility relocation, tree removal and earthwork with construction scheduled to start and be completed in 2027.

The 2027 construction includes:

•  Paving the gravel section of Pontiac Lake Road between Margie Drive and Arlington Street.

•  Installing curbs and gutters as needed.

•  Adding a roundabout at the Pontiac Lake-Fisk roads’ intersection, which will be the county’s 46th roundabout.

•  Improving shoulders and drainage.

•  Re-aligning the road to improve safety.

•  Stabilizing the soil under the road.

Pontiac Lake Road will be closed to traffic between M-59 and Teggerdine Road during construction. Residents and business owners will have access to their properties throughout construction but drivers will not be able to travel completely through the construction area.

The detour will be Teggerdine Road to M-59, back to Pontiac Lake Road and vice versa.

People who need assistance or support for disabilities or language translation to attend the meeting may call the road commission at (248)645-2000 and ask for the engineering department. Learn more at https://rcocweb.org/736/Pontiac-Lake-Road-Margie-Drive-to-Arling.
