Dismembered, decomposing body found in Oakland – NBC Bay Area

Police are investigating the discovery of a dismembered and decomposed body in Oakland on Sunday.

Just after 10 a.m., officers were sent to the 9700 block of San Leandro Street where they found “a body that appeared to be in a state of decomposition and dismemberment,” Oakland Police Department officials said in a news release Monday.

OPD homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and an autopsy will determine if the body is that of a man or a woman and how they died.
