Kern Klyde says, “Four-more weeks of dense fog”

Bakersfield; Ca — Groundhog Day is here, February 2nd. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which means the US will see six more weeks of winter. Kern County has Kern Klyde. If Klyde sees his shadow we will have two more weeks of dense fog. If he doesn’t, we will have four more weeks of dense fog. He didn’t see his shadow!

Sammy, aka morning forecaster and anchor Aaron Perlman’s dog, was the honorary Kern Klyde this year.

The San Joaquin Valley floor has had 32 days of dense fog this year. It is the 11th most foggy Bakersfield has been since records have been taken at Meadows Field; 1921.
