Social media companies such as Meta Platforms Inc. will have to post warning labels on mental-health risks under a bill signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) Monday.
The measure (AB 56) by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D) requires platforms to display a warning each time an underage user accesses the site, then after three hours of use, and hourly thereafter.
Newsom has yet to act on another pending social media bill that would have such platforms face liability for knowingly promoting violent content. That legislation (SB 771) …
