BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man died Tuesday after a single-vehicle crash in south Bakersfield on Phillips Road.
The crash was reported in the area of Phillips and Wible roads just after 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.
Investigation showed a 47-year-old man was driving a 2004 Kia Rio on southbound Wible Road, north of Phillips Road, at an unknown rate of speed.

Officials said for reasons unknown, the man was not able to negotiate a curve in the roadway and continued to head south, traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
