SAN FRANCISCO, CA — An unknown group has organized a march on Saturday in San Francisco in support of an unlikely class: the 1%.

Yes, the “March for Billionaires” event on Saturday is real, according to organizers. What remains unclear is whether this move is satire.

It seems the group is calling for the end of the “Billionaire Tax Act,” a proposal in California that would impose a one-time tax equal to 5% of their net worth. The act has not yet passed, but will be on the general election ballot in November.

“California benefits enormously when entrepreneurs choose to build here,” the organizers said online. “We’re currently watching them leave.”

On a website that appears to have been created this year, the group claims most billionaires “made their fortunes building companies that employ thousands and solve real problems.”

“These billionaires didn’t steal from you,” the website states, listing several billionaires, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Singer Taylor Swift, and Airbnb creator Brian Chesky. “They created products, services, and experiences that millions of people freely chose.”

Organizers have asked that anyone looking to take part in the march meet at Alta Plaza Park in San Francisco at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The march will begin at 11:30 a.m., and a rally will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Civic Center.

“Bernie Sanders says that no one should be a billionaire,” the movement’s organizers said on X. “We say that *everyone* should be a billionaire.”
