Oakland University Locked Down Due to Reported Aggravated Assault

Rochester Hills, MI – Oakland University is on lock down as of 9:45 pm Thursday due to a reported aggravated assault at Van Wagoner House.  The following details were shared on the OU website:

Suspect 1 Information:

Sex: Male
Complexion: Dark
Clothing: Dark clothing
Suspect Mode of Travel: On Foot

Lockdown continues on campus.

At all times, the Oakland University Police Department recommends that campus community members remember and utilize the following assault prevention tips:

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT INFORMATION

If you are the victim of an aggravated assault:

Seek medical attention as needed.
Report it to the OUPD.

To help reduce the risk of an assault:

Be aware of verbal and body language indicating an escalating conflict.
Be cognizant of your personal space to allow yourself time to react.
Disengage from conflict whenever possible and get to a place of safety.
De-escalate a conflict, if possible, by remaining calm, listening and speaking respectfully, and explaining that you understand the point of view being expressed.
