The San Marino Lunar New Year Festival and the Tết Lunar New Year Festival will add a note of auspicious joy, and community revelry, to the first Saturday of February.

The Year of the Horse is just ahead, and both pay-nothing parties will offer opportunities to bask in traditional songs, observe lively Lion Dances, and savor the touchstones of these beautiful annual celebrations.

Lovely Lacy Park is the setting for the San Marino Lunar New Year Festival on Feb. 7, presented by the Chinese Club of San Marino.

The fun starts at 10 a.m., with “… festive performances, delicious food, and a variety of activities” on the schedule.

Happening at the same time in Orange County? Look to the festive Tết Lunar New Year Festival, presented by the City of Santa Ana.

Dance over to Centennial Park in the afternoon of Feb. 7, from 1 to 6 o’clock, for literary appearances, live music, and merry moments that will honor Vietnamese cultural traditions.

Oh yes, and yummy foods, too: Eats and sips will be for sale during the event. And when the sun sets, the sparkle will begins, thanks to a festival-concluding fireworks show.

A number of local agencies and organizations are joining in, with the Santa Ana Public Library and other groups adding to the Year of the Horse happiness.
