LOS ANGELES (KABC) — As the Los Angeles City Council celebrates Filipino American Heritage Month, our very own Tony Cabrera was recognized as a distinguished honoree!

Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, the first Filipino American to sit on the city council, presented the honors.

The city and the Los Angeles Filipino Association of City Employees recognized Tony’s outstanding achievements and positive impact on the local Filipino community through his work at ABC7.

Tony is a morning anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News.

He has played several roles at the station, including weathercaster, reporter and entertainment correspondent. He previously worked at TV stations in Fresno, Santa Barbara, Tucson, Arizona and Toledo, Ohio.

Tony was born and raised in San Jose but eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California.

He is also a certified meteorologist through the Broadcast and Operational Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University.

We are so proud to have him on our team. Congratulations, Tony!
