BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — One arrest was made and nearly 40 citations were issued while CHP patrolled Highway 58, between Bakersfield and Tehachapi, early Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol said early this morning, the CHP Mojave Area partnered with the CHP Bakersfield and worked along Highway 58 for the morning commute between Bakersfield and Tehachapi.

CHP said the focus was on speeding vehicles and other violations that lead to crashes.

According to CHP, in just a few hours, officers made one arrest, issued two warnings, and 39 citations, with some for 100 MPH.

CHP said its goal is to prevent crashes and keep everyone safe on the roadway.

CHP said in a social media post, “Slow down, drive responsibly, and always arrive alive.”
