Following the inaugural season of Athletics baseball in Sacramento, the city is prepared to make a push towards bringing an MLB expansion team to California’s capital city.

During Tuesday morning’s edition of The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty joined the show to share why he believes that the city is well in the mix to bid for an MLB expansion team, explain why the A’s are making a better effort to engage with Sacramento during the 2026 season, and much more.

The A’s, who are slated to play at Sutter Health Park for at least the next two seasons (2026-2027), are tentatively scheduled to move into their new ballpark in Las Vegas for the 2028 season.

While the first-year attendance numbers for MLB in Sacramento left a lot to be desired, the A’s announced that they will wear a “Sacramento” jersey in 2026, as well as host “Sacramento Saturdays” next season, which will highlight the 916 area.

Why should fans support the A’s more in 2026? Will it make a difference in bringing an expansion team to Sacramento? Mayor McCarty answers those questions and more during his interview with Dave and Jason.
