REDDING, Calif. — A 37-year-old Redding man who went missing after fleeing into the Sacramento River during a police pursuit has been found dead.
On Wednesday, Feb.11, at around 10:20 a.m., the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office dive team was requested by the Redding Police Department (RPD) to help with the recovery of a deceased person in the Sacramento River.
The dive team responded to the Kutras Boat Ramp on Park Marina Drive and traveled by boat to the location of the body, north of the Highway 44 overpass and south of the Sundial Bridge near the Bluffs.
Dive team members located an adult male submerged in the water and determined he was beyond lifesaving measures. He was recovered from the water and transported to the boat launch, where he was released to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
