The touchstones, tropes, and tried-and-truly-tremendous traditions of Valentine’s Day are precious and plentiful.
These might include favorite flowers delivered to your sweetie, a specific candy that you know your cutie craves, or a visit to a particular restaurant, where you are seated at corner table you both adore.
But music is a major mainstay of Feb. 14, and hearing the first few notes of a great decades-old love song can instantly transport a person to dream space, Cloud 9, or their honey’s arms.
Gloria Molina Grand Park will touchingly tap into our tune-based emotions during “Love Notes,” a free Valentine’s Day celebration.
The afternoon-into-evening event will include DJ tunes, live screen-printing, a drone light show “that transforms the sky into a love letter for the entire county,” and the chance to arrive with some favorite snacks and picnic in the park.
Entry is free but be sure to RSVP before heading downtown to the hearts-and-grooves gathering.
Will a kickin’ oldie that sends your heart higher than Los Angeles City Hall or makes you feel splashier than the Arthur J. Will Memorial Fountain play during the party?
Maybe you and your date or friends will find a new old song to love together as you watch “A Celestial Love Letter to LA” sparkle overhead.
