New York City FC concluded its preseason with a 2-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes in its third friendly of the Coachella Valley Invitational.

New York City FC concluded its preseason with a 2-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes in its third friendly of the Coachella Valley Invitational.

The Pigeons finished the tournament with a 0-2-1 record, scoring twice.

Quakes forward Ousseni Bouda scored in the second half and midfielder Niko Tsakiris converted a penalty kick for the insurance goal.

NYCFC played Los Angeles FC to a 1-1 draw to open the competition before losing to Sporting Kansas City, 2-1, in its second match.

City kicks off the season at the LA Galaxy in Carson, Calf. on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. ET.
