The San Francisco Giants have made a late free agent signing as spring training gets underway.

Joining the Giants: Will Brennan, the former Cleveland Guardians outfielder.

Jordan Shusterman reported the news on Sunday morning in amusing fashion:

Brennan is a lefty hitter and thrower who just turned 28 years old earlier in February.

He was originally an eighth-round pick by Cleveland in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Kansas State.

Brennan has played parts of four seasons for the Guardians in the major leagues, although he was just 1-for-11 in six games played in 2025.

He batted .266 in 2023 and .264 in 2024, two seasons in which he averaged out to be about a replacement-level player.

Brennan isn’t capable of playing centerfield, but the Giants signed Harrison Bader this offseason to do that.

At most, Brennan could make the Giants’ roster as a reserve, or he’ll begin the season at Triple-A.

Brennan has a career .680 OPS and has stolen 19 bases in 28 attempts in 269 games at the major league level.

This will be his first time outside of Cleveland’s organization, and he’ll try to make the most of it.
