According to The Inn, the new amenity is a nod to Rancho Santa Fe’s “equestrian soul”, which can be traced back to the 1830s at the nearby Osuna Ranch, the last remaining acres of the once over 8,000-acre land grant that was home to a working cattle and horse ranch and the Rancho Santa Fe Association-preserved adobe, the abode of San Diego’s first alcalde (mayor). In 1924, architect Lilian Rice preserved that equestrian spirit with the creation of Rancho Santa Fe’s master plan. The Inn served as a guest house for potential homebuyers who arrived on horseback to scout the region’s backcountry.
