With the safety risks of traveling through the storm, some schools in California may close until further notice.
CALIFORNIA, USA — With the current winter storm that hit California Sunday afternoon, Northern California is facing traffic delays, chain control, roadway closures and more. These difficulties have not only made it hard to travel, but also unsafe to do so in some areas.Â
The ABC10 Weather Team says the Weather Impact Alert continues through Thursday with periods of heavy rain and low Sierra snow. With that, some California school districts are staying closed until it clears.Â
Pollock Pines and Silver Fork
The Pollock Pines Elementary School District and Silver Fork Elementary School Districts are closing Tuesday, Feb. 17, and will re-evaluate weather conditions before tentatively opening again on Wednesday.Â
The Pollock Pines district cited harsh weather as the reason, stating student safety was a priority before anything else.Â
