Snow and rain hit California on Tuesday morning, February 17, creating dangerous travel conditions in the state’s higher elevations, footage shows.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned of potential accumulations of 4 to 8 feet at higher elevations, with wind gusts between 45 and 55 mph, until late Thursday night.

The weather service said to expect “dangerous to near impossible travel conditions with chain controls and road closures” and “low visibility due to a combination of wind and heavy snow.”
