BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was found dead Sunday morning in southwest Bakersfield after police say he was possibly struck by a hit-and-run driver.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at around 8:08 a.m., officers were called to a report of a person down in the roadway on the 7900 block of Camino Media.

When officers arrived, they found a man unresponsive.

Emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced the person dead at the scene.

Police said preliminary evidence suggests the possibility of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian. However, no involved vehicle or driver was found at the scene.

Officers canvassed the area for witnesses, but none have come forward at this time.

Police said the incident happened on a residential portion of Camino Media, which ends in a cul-de-sac east of Gosford Road.

BPD said this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
