This year, Valentine’s Day accompanied a series of winter storms that swept through Southern California — with a particularly strong wind gust blowing over a tree at Disneyland.
A Las Vegas couple sustained minor injuries after a tree fell in the park late Tuesday night.
Disneyland officials stated that a tree fell near Main Street U.S.A., toppling onto the patio of the Plaza Inn around 11:40 p.m. Due to the rain, no visitors were sitting on the patio.
Two guests who were in the vicinity were treated by park first aid for minor grazes. The couple, Mark and Lewanda Joseph from Nevada, were in town for Disneyland’s after-dark Valentine’s Day themed event.
The pair both stated they’re grateful for the quick response from medical personnel and that this incident won’t keep them away from the park.
The Disneyland Fire Department were quick to respond to the scene, and the fallen tree was removed overnight.
Southern California faces a series of winter rainstorms this week, where flash flood warnings and fallen trees are expected to be a common sight as strong rain winds blow through the area.
