Orange County Music & Dance (OCMD) will no longer be moving its headquarters to the Great Park.

The board of directors have voted to relocate the organization, which includes the Pacific Symphony home base, to a newly identified location in Irvine.

The nonprofit said it was redirecting efforts and resources to another Irvine site “that better fulfills the organization’s mission and vision for the future.”

OCMD cited rising construction material and labor expenses for the change, as well as unforeseen delays and challenges in securing temporary facilities.

“The new location will allow OCMD to build a state-of-the-art facility without incurring any debt and allow us to launch expanded programs in the Fall of 2026 rather than having to wait 18-24 months for construction to be completed,” Executive Vice Chair Doug Freeman said in a statement.

OCMD will announce the location in the next several weeks.
