The Long Beach Baseball Club, the city’s first professional baseball team, which is getting ready to launch its inaugural season in May, has its first major partner.

The Long Beach Airport has signed on as the team’s first founding partner, according to a Thursday, Feb. 19, news release, marking a major milestone for LBBC, otherwise known as Long Beach Coast.

LGB will be the official airport of the Long Beach Coast and will sponsor the team’s jerseys, the news release said.

“From the very beginning, Long Beach Coast has been about building something authentic for this city. Partnering with Long Beach Airport as our first and founding partner is incredibly meaningful, ” LBBC President Ena Patel said. “LGB represents the best of Long Beach: welcoming, distinctive and forward-thinking. This partnership is locals supporting locals, and together we’re creating experiences that extend well beyond the ballpark.”

The arrival of the professional baseball team, which is part of the the Pioneer Baseball League, was announced in 2025 after the Long Beach City Council voted to back a partnership between the club and Cal State Long Beach, which allows the team to use the university’s Blair Field as its home base.

Since then, the team has been working to establish itself with player signings, fan events and more. Long Beach Baseball Club also hosted a citywide vote to help pick its official name — which is how it became known as Long Beach Coast.

Team officials also said the club would have an alter-ego: the Long Beach Regulators, a callback to Long Beach rapper Warren G’s 1994 hit “Regulate” — and an homage to the city’s role as a powerhouse and pioneer of West Coast rap.

“We’re proud to partner with the Long Beach Coast as they bring professional baseball back to the city,” LGB Director Cynthia Guidry said. “Both of our organizations are deeply connected to this community and committed to creating memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike. This partnership celebrates Long Beach’s creativity, energy and hometown pride.”

To celebrate the partnership, the team hosted a fan event at the airport on Friday, Feb. 20, which featured giveaways, music and more.

Long Beach Coast will also host a community event during which fans can meet the team’s players at 12 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at SteelCraft, 3768 Long Beach Blvd. RSVP for that event online at shorturl.at/p6ApQ.
