Glenn Togawa
Union Center for the Arts, 120 Judge John Aiso St. in Little Tokyo, will celebrate Glenn Togawa Day on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Architect and community advocate Glenn Togawa (1946-2025) is remembered for his visionary transformation of Union Church into the Union Center for the Arts in 1998. Completed in 1923, the church was part of the Little Tokyo community for decades until the congregation moved to a new building.

The old building stood empty for years until it was renovated, with the exterior preserved, and became the home of East West Players, Visual Communications, and LA Artcore. The three organizations will remain open for guests to tour for the duration of the event.
From 3 p.m., with Chris Togawa as host, tributes will be given by June Urban, Pierre Antounian, Lisa Sugino, Bill Watanabe, and Paul Rubenstein.
