A 2007 Saturn Aura and a 2021 Jeep Wrangler were traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard when the 17-year-old boy driving the Saturn tried to make a lane change and collided with the Jeep.
A boy driving the Saturn and his passenger, a 16-year-old girl, were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
On Wednesday, authorities were notified that the girl had died.
The driver of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler, who was not hurt and remained at the scene.
Police said speed and distracted driving are being investigated as factors in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
