(FOX40.COM)-Sacramento police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night in the 1500 block of W El Camino Ave. An adult male victim died at an area hospital after sustaining at least one gunshot wound.
Officers responded to the scene shortly before 9:00 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Due to the nature of the incident, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the location to lead the investigation.
Responding officers arrived to find the man with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where medical staff performed life-saving measures before he was pronounced deceased. No suspect information has been released at this time.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators working on the case say they are currently processing the scene for evidence, canvassing the neighborhood, and interviewing witnesses. The specific circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation. The Sacramento Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471. Witnesses can also reach out to Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Tipsters can remain anonymous through the department or by using the P3 Tips smartphone app. Information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased man after the next of kin have been notified.
