SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Reina Zermeno hit two home runs against Pacific (4-11, 0-0 WCC) to lead the San José State softball team (4-11, 0-0 MW) in a 10-1 win and a 10-4 loss to Cal Poly (2-8, 0-0 Big West) in the final day of the Mustang Classic on Sunday from Bob Janssen Field.

Game 1: San José State 10, Pacific 1

The Spartans unleashed a 14-hit barrage to overwhelm Pacific. Zermeno led the charge, launching two home runs—a three-run shot in the fourth and a solo blast in the sixth—finishing the game with 4 RBIs.

SJSU set the tone early with a run in the first inning and added two more in the second, capitalizing on Pacific errors. Delaney Faus earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete-game three-hitter and allowing only one unearned run while striking out two.

Game 2: Cal Poly 10, San José State 4 

In the second game, San José State jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. Samantha Blachly provided the spark in the third inning with a two-run double that scored Shay McDowell and Sophia Burdick.

However, the Mustangs responded with a decisive six-run fourth inning, fueled by three Spartan errors. Despite a late push that included an unearned run in the fifth, SJSU could not overcome the deficit.
