BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Court documents reveal the gruesome details of a 23-year-old woman who died in a hospital after a possible domestic violence incident. 29-year-old Brandon Grimaldo, who claimed she fell in the shower, was arrested after officers found blood-splattered evidence in their home.

Court documents said on February 7, 2026, Bakersfield police officers responded to Adventist Health Bakersfield about an assault investigation involving possible domestic violence and great bodily injury.

The documents said the victim, 23-year-old Crystal Marie Falcon, was taken to the hospital from a home in the 6400 block of Terrebonne Court due to difficulty breathing and went into cardiac arrest, twice, after arrival.

In the documents, it said, “Medical staff further advised the victim had multiple visible injuries located throughout her body in various stages of healing. These injuries included abrasions, contusions, possible broken bones, obvious deformity, necrosis, ligature marks consistent with being tied up, and what appeared to be circular burn injuries consistent in appearance with cigarette burns.”

The suspect, 29-year-old Brandon Grimaldo, spoke to officers and stated that Falcon tripped and fell in the shower, and that she “hit herself in the head sometimes,” according to the documents.

Documents said a search warrant of the home led officers to find blood splatter on the walls, a male shirt with blood splatter, bloody towels in a laundry bin, blood splatter in the hallway, and blood splatter on the bedroom mattress sheets. It was later mentioned that blood splatter was found over a crib.

The document said that Grimaldo denied any physical altercations with Falcon and became upset with the officers. It said, “Officers attempted to take him into custody in the interview room; however, he attempted to turn around and resisted arrest.”

A GoFundMe was created for Falcon. It said, “Our beautiful niece Crystal Marie Falcon was a domestic violence victim who fought as long as she possibly could. She took her last breath today leaving behind her two beautiful kids, Estrellita, age 3 with special needs, and Devony age 2.”
