Fatal Motorcycle Crash on 405 Freeway in Long Beach (2/24)

LONG BEACH, Calif., (Feb. 24, 2026) — A fatal traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a van happened Tuesday morning on the southbound Interstate 405 Freeway, just north of Long Beach Boulevard.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 6:53 a.m. on Feb. 24th, happened in the Long Beach area. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a motorcyclist and a blue Honda van in the HOV and fast lanes. The circumstances leading up to the collision are unknown at this time.

Emergency services, including the Long Beach Fire Department, were promptly dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and died on the scene.

Authorities closed multiple lanes to manage the scene and conduct an investigation, which is still ongoing. The name of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information about the incident to come forward as they continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to this tragic event.
