Audacy is expanding Andy Hawk’s leadership portfolio in Sacramento, tapping the longtime programmer to oversee two of the market’s heritage rock brands.

Hawk has been named Brand Manager of classic rock “96.9 The Eagle” KSEG and “98 Rock” KRXQ, adding those stations to his current duties as Brand Manager of “Alt 94.7” KKDO. In the newly expanded role, Hawk will guide content strategy, talent, operations and branding across all three stations, consolidating oversight of Audacy’s rock lineup in the market.

Hawk takes on oversight of the two stations following the exits last week of “98 Rock” Assistant Brand Manager/morning host Paul Marshall and KSEG Assistant Brand Manager/afternoon host Ken Anthony. Myki Angeline, “98 Rock” night host, was also let go in the restructuring.

“Andy’s smarts, passion and love for Sacramento make him the definitive choice to lead these two legendary brands into their next chapter,” said Ryan Castle, Rock Format Vice President, Audacy. “He is a Sacramento native who has an understanding of this community’s pulse. We’re excited for him to take the reins on all the rock stations in this region and see the impact he makes.”

Hawk has more than 25 years of radio experience and deep roots at “98 Rock,” where he began as an intern in 1997. He later hosted “Local Licks” and served as a traffic and weather anchor from 2009-15 before moving into programming leadership.

In 2016, Hawk was elevated to Alternative Regional Brand Manager for Audacy. Under his leadership, “Alt 94.7” rose to the top spot among Adults 25-54. He also hosts the station’s afternoon drive show, which ranks No. 1 in its time slot, the company notes in the release.

“I’ve grown up with these stations and have worked alongside the programmers of KRXQ and KSEG for the last two decades,” said Hawk. “It’s truly an honor to get to lead these two massive Sacramento brands.”
