Nipsey Hussle’s spirit lives on not only in his music but in the business world.

The late rapper passed away in 2019 at 33, as AFROTECH™ previously reported. His oldest brother, Blacc Sam, has played a pivotal role in ensuring “The Marathon Continues.” One example is The Marathon Clothing brand, which launched in 2009 and opened its flagship store in 2017 in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, according to a press release.

Blacc Sam, as Nipsey Hussle’s business partner, revealed that his late brother’s children, Emani Asghedom and Kross Asghedom, would become owners of the clothing store.

“When I say we own it, it’s in Hussle’s kids’ names, in their trust fund,” Blacc Sam told Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, hosts of the “Earn Your Leisure” podcast. “When they get older, this is something their father worked for, and that they own, and that’s important to me. Also, just having a brick-and-mortar once again reinforced what Hussle told us and taught us.”

He continued, “Just through the ups and downs of you know of whatever with business or brands, whether your shi-t boomin’ online and slows down, just having that brick-and-mortar and being able to pass it down through the family, I think is important.”

On Melrose Avenue, half a mile from that clothing store, exists another venture called Marathon Burger, Eater Los Angeles reported. It serves wings, Wagyu beef burgers, and shakes. It also offers vegan-friendly options, including a plant-based burger, a portobello mushroom burger, and a grilled vegetable salad, as AFROTECH™ previously reported.

Blacc Sam manages the businesses and is, at times, hands-on in the kitchen, he shared with CBS News. He was inspired to open the business because he would cook in the kitchen with Nipsey Hussle during their childhood.

“I think [the] Marathon brand, created by Hussle, was kind of like to inspire and to just motivate, and it just means to keep going,” he told the outlet. “It’s not a race, it’s a pace, do it on your own. … Anything that we can continue doing in that spirit is always a blessing.”

Marathon Burger started as a pop-up in 2024 and expanded to locations on Melrose Avenue, Venice Beach, and Canoga Park in the Los Angeles area. Now, it is adding another location in Long Beach, CA, with a grand opening scheduled for March 1, according to information shared on its Instagram.

The expansion is made possible through a partnership between Blacc Sam and the Broadus family, which includes Snoop Dogg and Cordell Broadus.
