BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — President Donald Trump used part of his State of the Union address Tuesday night to spotlight a Bakersfield girl who was severely injured in a Mojave Desert crash and to push for a new proposal aimed at restricting commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) for undocumented immigrants.

During the address, Trump introduced Dalilah Coleman, the Bakersfield girl who was severely injured after a crash involving an undocumented immigrant from India in the Mojave Desert.
“Please stand up,” Trump said, prompting applause.
Trump urged Congress to pass what he called the “Dalilah Law,” which would prohibit states from giving commercial driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants.

The crash happened in June 2024, when a semi-truck driver crashed into five other cars in the Mojave Desert. Dalilah was pinned in the back seat of her car and suffered life-altering injuries.
