ROSSMOOR, CA — A two-story townhome fire in Orange County killed a pet cat on Tuesday, authorities said.
The fire was reported at around 4:15 p.m. at a townhome on Montecito Road in Rossmoor.
The second-alarm fire had spread into void spaces, the townhome’s attic and toward adjacent units, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

Firefighters knocked down the fire by opening walls and flooring to extinguish flames, authorities said.
One person was evaluated at the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital, firefighters said. One cat was found dead inside of the unit.
The cause of the fire was under investigation
