  • February 25, 2026

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A third person has been arrested and charged in a Southfield human trafficking case.

Samuel Lee Hill, a 29-year-old from Woodhaven, was arrested at a Southfield hotel on Tuesday, Feb. 24. He was charged with transportation of a prostitute.

The investigation began Saturday, Feb. 21, after a 47-year-old Detroit man told police he was robbed at the hotel, where he had gone to meet a sex worker.

Police said they searched two rooms at the hotel and found suspected cocaine and fentanyl and evidence supporting human trafficking.

A 30-year-old Inkster man and a 27-year-old Pennsylvania woman were arrested at the scene.

Kylee Lynn Berry and Jowuan Lawrence Shorter (WDIV)

Kylee Lynn Berry and Jowuan Lawrence Shorter were both charged with operating a human trafficking enterprise and accepting earnings of prostitution. Berry was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Shorter and Berry are believed to be connected to crimes in Bloomfield Township, Canton and Romulus.

They are each being held on a $50,000 bond, while Hill is being held on a $5,000 bond.

Anyone with information or who may be a trafficking victim is urged to call the Human Trafficking tip line at 248-858-0411.
