Oakland University’s Center for Public Humanities and the Rochester Hills Public Library will host: An Author Talk by Mark Stryker: Jazz from Detroit.
Stryker is an award-winning author, journalist, filmmaker, and a 2020 inductee into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame.
The event will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 5 at the Rochester Hills Public Library at 500 Olde Towne Road, Rochester.
The book explores the city’s role in shaping the course of modern and contemporary jazz, with more than two dozen in-depth profiles of Detroit-bred musicians.
The event celebrates the publication of the book in paperback, which he has fully updated since the 2019 publication of the hardcover.
