BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police and other agencies conducted an enforcement operation on Casa Loma targeting unauthorized street vendors who have been setting up weekly on private property. The operation ended in several citations.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Sunday, February 22, 2026, BPD’s Impact Unit focused on an enforcement operation in the area of Casa Loma Drive and South Martin Luther King Boulevard in southeast Bakersfield in response to ongoing community concerns.

Police said this operation was completed in coordination with Bakersfield City Code Enforcement, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kern County Code Enforcement, and Kern County Public Health Department.

According to Bakersfield police, a large number of street vendors have been setting up weekly operations in the area on private property, creating congestion, traffic issues and trespassing violations. Police said the gatherings were leaving trash in the area once they dispersed.

On Sunday, 25 vendors were found operating in the City jurisdiction and two vendors were operating in the County jurisdiction.

Three vehicles were issued parking citations, and one trespassing warning was issued.

Police said enforcement in this area will continue in the coming weeks as BPD continues to focus on public safety and the preservation of private property owners’ rights.
