An unidentified woman was fatally hit while crossing Power Inn Road outside a crosswalk, according to CHP. The driver stayed and cooperated.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A woman was killed Friday morning after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a South Sacramento roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on northbound Power Inn Road, just south of Calvine Road.

CHP officials said the pedestrian, an unidentified woman, was crossing Power Inn Road outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, providing a statement to officers.

Northbound Power Inn Road south of Calvine Road was temporarily closed as authorities conducted their investigation. CHP said the roadway was expected to reopen within about 30 minutes.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
