Firefighters respond to second fire this month caused by children

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The Fresno Fire Department is asking parents to be on alert after the second blaze this month, caused by children playing with fire.

The latest incident happened just before noon today at an apartment off Fresno Street and Belmont Avenue in Central Fresno.

Firefighters found smoke coming from a two-story multi-unit building.

There were two people inside, including an 8-year-old child. They both escaped without any injuries.

Neighbors used fire extinguishers to help knock out the flames.

Investigators later learned it was caused by a child playing with a candle.
