Thinking you’ll be cruising down Interstate 5 in La Jolla this weekend? If so, get ready for a slowdown, though most of it will take place in the overnight hours.

Starting Friday night at 7 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane on the southbound I-5 at Gilman Drive for crews to complete bridge work, according to Caltrans.

Stay aware — the on and off-ramps at Gilman Drive will also be closed. All lanes are expected to reopen Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

Lanes will close again Saturday night at 7 p.m. and reopen Sunday morning at 11 a.m.

During those hours, southbound I-5 drivers are advised to take Interstate 805 when heading south. Drivers who continue on I-5 past I-805 will experience traffic delays as the lanes will be reduced into one lane.

During the day, lanes will be open as normal, Caltrans said.
