Sacramento veteran celebrates 104th birthday with family and friends

WILLIAM NADER PULLED UP TO THE ROMA’S PIZZA IN A ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SHADOW, AND FAMILY AND FRIENDS WERE THERE TO HELP THE FORMER ARMY AIR CORPSMAN CELEBRATE HIS 104TH BIRTHDAY. NADER SERVED IN ITALY NEAR THE END OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR, AND TODAY HE TALKED ABOUT ONE OF HIS FAVORITE MOMENTS FROM HIS SERVICE. I SURE ENJOYED MY MY PART OVER THERE IN ITALY. AS A MATTER OF FACT, WHEN THE WAR ENDED, I WAS IN ROME IN A HOTEL AND I HEARD ALL THIS NOISE OUTSIDE. I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND THE PEOPLE WERE ALL OUT IN THE STREET, DANCING. AND WE GET UP, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE THE WAR HAD JUST ENDED. AFTER THE WAR, NADER WORKED AT MCCLELLAN AIR FORCE BASE BEFORE RETIRING IN 1980. HIS FAMILY SAYS UP UNTIL LAST YEAR, HE WAS STILL DRIVING, STILL DOING HIS OWN YARD WORK. HE SAYS THE SECRET TO HIS HEALTH

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

William Nader, a former Army Air Corpsman, celebrated his 104th birthday at Roma’s Pizza in Sacramento, arriving in a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow with family and friends gathered to honor him.

Nader served in Italy near the end of World War II and spoke about one of his favorite moments from his service. After the war, he worked at McClellan Air Force Base before retiring in 1980.

His family said that up until last year, he was still driving and doing his own yard work. Nader said the secret to his health is reading, walking, being clear-minded, and loving every day.
