Oakland County woman charged with OWI after driving along ski slope base, endangering children

  • March 1, 2026

WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Bingham Farms woman is facing charges after prosecutors say she drove her car along the base of ski slopes at Alpine Valley in White Lake Township, endangering skiers, snowboarders and children.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald charged Margaret Feely, 58, with operating while impaired — third offense, which means she’s had prior incidents.

On Feb. 24, charging documents allege Feely drove her car at the base of the slopes while witnesses reported seeing her smoke what appeared to be marijuana earlier and wear ski boots while driving.

Police officers who attempted sobriety tests reported Feely showed poor balance, slurred speech, and was hostile.

At one point, Feely is alleged to have referred to an officer as “Nazi dude,” the prosecutor’s office said.

“This defendant endangered children with her irresponsible actions,” McDonald said. “There is no excuse to drive impaired, even once. If you’ve had too much to drink or are under the influence of marijuana or other drugs, call a friend, call an Uber, just don’t drive. If you do, we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.”

If found guilty, Feely could face up to five years in prison.
