SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (6-5) fell to California Baptist (10-3) in a low-scoring 2-1 loss in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
San Francisco scored the game’s opening run on a Brendan Burke solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to give the Dons a 1-0 advantage.
California Baptist rallied in the third and fourth innings, scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead. The Lancers held the Dons scoreless in the final five frames to earn the win and secure the series.Â
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Adrian Valdez earned the start on the mound and went five innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out five.
Quentin Pohorski was a bright spot for the Dons, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three shutout innings, allowing one hit, with two walks and three strikeouts.
Burke recorded his third career home run, his first of the season, and went one-for-four at the plate to lead the green and gold offensively.
As a team, the Dons outhit the Lancers for the first time this series, accumulating five throughout the contest. Five different players recorded a base hit, with Burke registering the lone extra-base knock.Â
