Spring is officially starting in San Francisco, and one of the city’s most popular spring events is returning to the Fine Arts Museums this week. Starting on Tuesday, March 3, the de Young and Legion of Honor will be filled with over 100 bouquets. These aren’t your average bouquets; they are more accurately described as living sculptures, designed to complement the art and architecture of the museums.

Bouquets to Art is a temporary exhibition in its 42nd year, and it will officially debut on Monday, March 1, with an Opening Night Reception. Starting Tuesday, you can see the floral arrangements during regular museum hours, although the exhibit is fleeting and will only last until March 8, 2026.
The exhibit is created by over 120 floral designers, and you can expect a range of styles in the bouquets. The de Young will feature 100 floral arrangements, with the Legion of Honor hosting 20 bouquets. You can also explore an impressionist inspired garden in the Legion of Honor’s central gallery.

Due to the popularity of Bouquets to Art and the short-term nature of the exhibit, the de Young has added extended hours on Thursday, March 5. The museum will be open from 6 to 9 pm, perfect for those unable to get to the museum during typical business hours.

Aside from the many beautiful bouquets throughout the museums, you can also expect several talks and demonstrations throughout the week, presenting on floral design and art. Check out the schedule for programming here:
