UPCOMING

The Utah Valley University men’s golf team continues its spring season this week at The Watney Invitational, March 2-3, at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, California. The two-day tournament is hosted by Fresno State and features a 14-team field competing over 54 holes.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The Watney Invitational will be contested over two days in stroke play format. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday beginning with an 8:00 a.m. PT shotgun start, followed by a final 18-hole round on Tuesday with an 8:15 a.m. PT shotgun start. The tournament will follow a play-five, score-four format.

TOURNAMENT FIELD

The field includes Cal Baptist, CSU Northridge, Fresno State, Fullerton, Idaho, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, Seattle, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Utah State, and Utah Valley.

COURSE INFORMATION

San Joaquin Country Club will serve as the host venue for The Watney Invitational. The championship par-71 layout plays at 7,051 yards from the longest tees and features natural elevation changes of up to 60 feet, creating one of the most scenic and challenging courses in Central California. The course offers views of the San Joaquin River and Sierra Nevada mountains while testing players with strategic approach shots, well-guarded greens, and a traditional championship design.

LAST TIME OUT

Utah Valley last competed at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona, where sophomore Paxton Maxwell recorded his fifth straight top-10 finish, tying for 10th with a three-round score of 9-under-par 207 (65-71-71). Maxwell’s opening-round 7-under-par 65 marked the second-lowest single-round score in program history as the Wolverines finished tied for 15th in a strong 20-team field.

LOOKING AHEAD

Following The Watney Invitational, Utah Valley will travel to Oregon to compete at the Bandon Dunes Championship, March 8-10, at Bandon Dunes Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon.
