Northern California forecast: Lingering Sierra showers

A few lingering showers, both rain and snow, are present early this morning in the Sierra, but more sunshine is expected as the day wears on.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE EAGLES IN PERSON, YOU DO HAVE TO KEEP YOUR DISTANCE. ALL RIGHT. 419 NOW TIME FOR ANOTHER CHECK ON OUR FORECAST AS WE TAKE A LIVE LOOK HERE. OUR SUTTER HEALTH PARK AND THIS WEEKEND SURE WAS PRETTY. TAMARA. IT CERTAINLY WAS. AND HAD A LITTLE KIND OF MUGGY FEEL TO IT WITH THE CLOUDS THAT WERE AROUND, ESPECIALLY DURING THE DAY ON SATURDAY AND THEN SUNDAY, THOSE CLOUDS DISPERSED A LITTLE BIT BETTER. AND NOW WE’RE LOOKING AT THIS BEAUTIFUL, CLEAR VIEW OF STOCKTON. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK OUTSIDE FROM THE VENICE HEALTH ARENA SKYCAM. TEMPERATURES HAVE DIPPED DOWN SLIGHTLY COMPARED TO WHERE WE WERE 24 HOURS AGO. WE’RE DOWN INTO THE UPPER 40S TO LOW 50S FOR THE MORNING. START HERE IN THE VALLEY 34 DEGREES. CURRENTLY IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION. THAT IS A DROP OFF, NEARLY TEN DEGREE DROP OFF BEING FELT IN TRUCKEE AND LAKE TAHOE. ACTUALLY, TRUCKEE JUST MODIFIED THERE TO SEVEN DEGREE DROP OFF. WE’RE ABOUT 11 DEGREES COOLER THIS MORNING AND OFFERED IN PLACERVILLE AND THEN AROUND THE CENTRAL VALLEY AND DELTA, ANYWHERE FROM ABOUT SIX TO ALMOST A TEN DEGREE DROP OFF IN TEMPERATURES, A LITTLE BIT OF FOG. I TALKED ABOUT THIS IN MY LAST WEATHER HIT, ESPECIALLY HERE AROUND PLACERVILLE. AS YOU CLIMB UP IN ELEVATION AROUND EL DORADO COUNTY, PLACERVILLE AIRPORT RIGHT NOW, INDICATING LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE VISIBILITY. STRETCH THERE, AND YOU’LL NOTICE THAT THE VISIBILITY IS A LITTLE BIT HAZY AROUND AUBURN. AUBURN AIRPORT NOW THREE MILE VISIBILITY AND A MILE RIGHT NOW IN TRUCKEE. THE VALLEY LOOKING JUST FINE UNDERNEATH THESE MAINLY CLEAR SKIES. BUT BECAUSE WE HAVE THESE CLEAR SKIES, CALM WINDS, WE MAY SEE SOME PATCHY FOG DEVELOP IN THE VALLEY IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. RIGHT NOW IN THE SIERRA, WE’VE HAD A COUPLE OF WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS. AS I WIDEN OUT THIS VIEW AND SHOW YOU THE TRIGGER FOR THIS. WELL, IT’S BASICALLY AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE THAT IS SPINNING JUST OFFSHORE RIGHT NOW, AND IT IS WRAPPING AROUND SOME MOISTURE, WHICH IS TRIGGERING SOME OF THAT WEST SLOPE ACTIVITY. I DON’T EXPECT IT’S GOING TO BE AROUND ALL DAY TODAY. IT’S MAINLY GOING TO IMPACT THE MORNING. WE GET BEYOND DAYBREAK. HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN AND WE’VE GOT A WARMER FORECAST COMING IN FOR TUESDAY. AND MORE SUNSHINE WE GET INTO WEDNESDAY. THE CLOUDS BUILD BACK IN AS THIS PIECE OF ENERGY MOVES IN FROM THE NORTH. IT CLIPS OUR AREA. SO IT’S NOT GOING TO BRING A WIDESPREAD STORM EVENT LET’S SAY. BUT IT IS GOING TO BRING A LITTLE BIT MORE ACTIVITY TO THE SIERRA. AND THEN BEHIND IT THE NORTH BREEZE GENERATES. SO WE DO HAVE A VALLEY FORECAST THAT IS GOING TO GRADUALLY WARM. WE’RE GOING TO BE CLOSER TO NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR TODAY. WITH THOSE HIGHS IN THE MID 60S. TALKING ABOUT UPPER 60S BY TOMORROW. AND THEN ONCE WE GET INTO THE BACK OF THE WEEK, THOSE TEMPERATURES START TO MOVE TO THE LOW 70S. AS WE SLIDE INTO SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, YOU CAN EXPECT WE’RE GOING TO GO ABOVE NORMAL AS WE GET INTO THAT FIRST FULL WEEKEND OF
