Caltrans to shut ramps and reduce lanes between Van Nuys and Westwood for electrical work.
Motorists traveling through the Sepulveda Pass should expect overnight lane reductions and ramp closures on Interstate 405 beginning March 2 as crews perform electrical work, Caltrans officials said.
The closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly from Monday, March 2, through Saturday morning, March 7. Drivers along northbound and southbound I-405 between Wilshire Boulevard and U.S. 101 will encounter intermittent lane restrictions and ramp closures during those hours.
Northbound impacts include closures of the eastbound and westbound Wilshire Boulevard on-ramps to northbound I-405, the Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive on-ramp, and the Burbank Boulevard on-ramp. The northbound off-ramp to Getty Center Drive will also be closed at times. In addition, up to two lanes of northbound I-405 will be closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive, and again between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard.

Southbound closures include the westbound Wilshire Boulevard on-ramp to southbound I-405 and the southbound off-ramp to Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive. Up to two southbound lanes will be reduced between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Wilshire Boulevard, as well as between U.S. 101 and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive.
Caltrans said the work is part of the $143.7 million I-405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, which spans from Van Nuys to Westwood. The project is intended to improve safety and mobility along the heavily traveled corridor while extending the life of the pavement.
Officials cautioned that construction schedules are subject to change because of weather or operational needs. Residents and businesses near the work zone may experience temporary noise, dust, and vibration.Current traffic conditions and updates are available through Caltrans’ QuickMap system.
