O’Melveny has expanded its antitrust bench with the addition of two veteran trial lawyers, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in high-stakes competition matters across the United States and internationally.

The firm announced that Diana Aguilar and Lauren Weinstein have joined as partners in its Antitrust & Competition Practice Group, based in San Francisco and Washington, DC, respectively. According to a statement, Aguilar arrives from the U.S. Department of Justice, while Weinstein joins from litigation boutique MoloLamken. Together, they bring more than 25 years of combined experience handling complex antitrust litigation, investigations, and enforcement actions.

Per Bloomberg, both attorneys are widely regarded as rising leaders in the competition law space. Their practices span a range of industries, including technology, financial services, transportation, media and entertainment, and energy. The move is expected to enhance O’Melveny’s ability to represent clients facing regulatory scrutiny and contentious antitrust disputes in the United States and abroad.

The hires mark the latest step in a broader expansion effort at the firm. According to Bloomberg, O’Melveny has added 46 lateral partners since 2023, including 19 in litigation. Aguilar and Weinstein are also among five partners to join the Antitrust & Competition Practice Group within the past year. Their arrival follows the 2025 additions of Brussels-based partners Stéphane Frank and Vanessa Turner, as well as the recent promotion of Washington, DC partner Brian Quinn.

O’Melveny Chair Bradley J. Butwin said in a statement, “It is a pleasure to welcome Diana and Lauren to our firm as we continue to expand our talented and award-winning Antitrust team. Both Diana and Lauren are impressive trial lawyers, with sharp technical abilities and extensive experience at the highest levels that will immediately benefit our clients. We are delighted to welcome them aboard.”

Aguilar expressed enthusiasm about returning to private practice in California, stating, “I’m excited to join O’Melveny’s San Francisco office and to work alongside such a remarkable team of lawyers. O’Melveny is renowned for excellence and for a deep commitment to client service. I’m thrilled to call the firm ‘home’ as I reenter private practice.”

Weinstein likewise highlighted the firm’s reputation and culture, saying, “Joining O’Melveny’s Washington, DC office was an easy decision for me. Not only is the firm an antitrust powerhouse, but its culture of collegiality and collaboration is truly special. I’m confident that O’Melveny will be the perfect fit for me and my clients.”

With competition enforcement remaining a priority for regulators, according to Bloomberg, the firm’s latest hires underscore its focus on building out trial-ready antitrust talent in key legal markets.
